Discern your skin undertone
In our case, one would rightfully think that we first need to know our exact skin colour and shade, but in fact it’s the skin undertone that kick-starts this simple, but very important observation. The skin undertone is the colour that the layer positioned underneath our skin surface has. That colour is really important, as it is what affects our overall hue. There are three main undertone divisions: cool, neutral and warm. How do we know what’s our undertone though? Pretty easy. All you need to do is give a closer look at the inner side of your wrist, and then check the colour of the veins there.
WHAT'S THE PERFECT MATCH FOR YOU?
Cool Undertone: If the veins colours in your wrist are blue-oriented, if your skin usually burns in the sun before getting a tan and if silver jewelries are what complements your skin, you could say that the undertone of your skin is cool. If the veins colours in your wrist are blue-oriented, if your skin usually burns in the sun before getting a tan and if silver jewelries are what complements your skin, you could say that the undertone of your skin is cool.
The most suitable lipsticks for cool undertones tend to have purple and blue shaded undertones. If you are aiming for a red lip. we would suggest to point your eyes toward deep bluish-reds, like cherry red, rather than those that have a greater reliance on orange. As for the nude lips, you can bring out the natural flush that your lips have with a pink nude, or consider taupe beige if you need a more subtle look. If you’re hesitating out of uncertainty, a tinted balm might do the trick by not only adjusting to your lip’s colour, but it could also suit a variety of looks. Moreover, your lips will be hydrated too!
Warm Undertone: If your veins tend to appear green, if getting a tan is an easy-peasy task for you and if gold jewelries are what complement your skin, then it’s safe to say that your skin undertone is warm. When the warmer undertones are considered, we think that the best lipsticks for those are the lip colours in warm shades. Some good examples that we could list include brick reds, bold oranges and terracotta browns. Want to go for a nude? A good idea would be corresponding the lipstick shade with your skin tone. For instance, we recommend you to choose a paler nude if your skin is light, and going for a richer nude if there’s a deeper tone to your skin.
Neutral Undertone: If you can’t decide whether your wrist veins look blue or green, but rather seem like a combination of both, then you have a neutral undertone to your skin. Somehow, this is good news, as there is a significantly wider spectrum of colours that are complementary, and both each of the cases mentioned above could be the perfect choice for you. Try berry colors for deep skin. mauve shades for medium skin and pink hues for fair skin.
